EXD 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it
holy. EXD 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all
thy work:
EXD 20:10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of
the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou,
nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy
maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within
thy gates:
EXD 20:11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and
earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the
seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and
hallowed it.
EXD 31:14 Ye shall keep the sabbath
therefore; for it [is] holy unto you: every one that defileth
it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth [any]
work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his
people.
EXD 31:15 Six days may work be done; but in the
seventh [is] the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD:
whosoever doeth [any] work in the sabbath day, he shall
surely be put to death.
EXD 31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall
keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath
throughout their generations, [for] a perpetual covenant.
ISA 56:2 Blessed [is] the man [that] doeth this, and
the son of man [that] layeth hold on it; that keepeth the
sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing
any evil.
As we can see from Gods word keeping the sabbath is
important. The preachers of the false church will tell you the
sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday because it was
Sunday that they found the tomb empty. Is there scripture to
back that up? No. What did happen is the early church met on
the morning of the first day, but they kept the sabbath with
their families as God commanded.
Some preachers of the false church will tell you that God
did away with the sabbath. This contradicts Exd 31:16 where
God's word said it was "a perpetual covenant"
The only verse they can point to that comes close to what
they say is Col 6:2 but put that in perspective of the next
verse.
COL 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or
in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or
of the sabbath [days]:
JHN 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill
him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but
said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with
God.
Because that is the context it is given in as shown by Col
2:15
COL 2:15 [And] having spoiled principalities and
powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in
it. |
