COL 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are
risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God,
who hath raised him from the dead. COL 2:13 And you,
being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all
trespasses;
COL 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances
that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out
of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Many judeo-christian churches today teach that Gods law has
been done away with. That Gods law is gone. If one studies the
whole word of God closely a different very defined answer is
found. Read the following verses and think of this as slicing
off the outside until we are left the with the thin path of
truth that is true in all the verses.
MAT 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and
earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from
the law, till all be fulfilled..
MAT 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of
these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be
called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall
do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the
kingdom of heaven.
Since heaven and earth have yet to pass away, nothing has
passed from God's law. Also we are to not break or teach men
to break the commandments.
DEU 5:10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them
that love me and keep my commandments.
DEU 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he
[is] God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy
with them that love him and keep his commandments
to a thousand generations;
We can see that God promises blessings to those that obey
His laws. Some may argue... but that's the old testament. as
if God's promises are no longer in effect.
JHN 14:15 If ye love me, keep my
commandments.
JHN 15:10 If ye keep my commandments,
ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my
Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
1JO 5:2 By this we know that we love the
children of God, when we love God, and keep his
commandments.
1JO 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we
keep his commandments: and his commandments
are not grievous.
We can also see in the new testament that the law is good.
ROM 7:12 Wherefore the law [is] holy, and the
commandment holy, and just, and good.
The law condemns us as sinners
1JO 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin
transgresseth also the law: for sin is the
transgression of the law.
But through Christ we are no longer under the condemnation
of the law, but does that mean the laws of God are of none
effect?
ROM 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we
are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
The law still exists to condemn some and to be a school
master that bring others to repentance and a knowledge of
Christ
ROM 7:7 What shall we say then? [Is] the law
sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but
by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law
had said, Thou shalt not covet.
GAL 3:17 And this I say, [that] the covenant, that
was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four
hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it
should make the promise of none effect.
GAL 3:18 For if the inheritance [be] of the law, [it
is] no more of promise: but God gave [it] to Abraham by
promise.
GAL 3:19 Wherefore then [serveth] the law? It was added
because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom
the promise was made; [and it was] ordained by angels in the
hand of a mediator.
GAL 3:20 Now a mediator is not [a mediator] of one, but
God is one.
GAL 3:21 [Is] the law then against the promises of God?
God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have
given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
GAL 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under
sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given
to them that believe.
GAL 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the
law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be
revealed.
GAL 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster [to
bring us] unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
GAL 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer
under a schoolmaster.
GAL 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in
Christ Jesus.
GAL 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into
Christ have put on Christ.
